Volunteer

The Drew Nursing Home is blessed to have volunteers of all ages from the local community who regularly help with programming and activities. Individual and groups who are generous with their time help us enhance quality of life for our residents, by creating opportunities to support their emotional, physical, social and spiritual needs.

Are you looking for an opportunity to volunteer?

Here are some ideas for how you could make a difference in the lives of our residents:

  • Visit with residents
  • Drive residents to medical appointments
  • Therapeutic recreational/diversional programming (music programs, bingo, games, crafts)
  • Assist with special events (teas, birthdays, seasonal parties)
  • Support services (letter writing, reading, shopping)
  • Spiritual programming (church services)
  • Donate items for our residents to use (afghans, cushions, greeting cards)
  • Delivering meals for the Meals for Seniors Program
  • Become a trained volunteer pilot for our Trishaw bicycle
  • Volunteer with Nursing Home Without Walls Tantramar (details below)

The Drew often also requires volunteers to donate time to projects that don’t involve direct contact with residents.

Create a Community of Care & Make a Difference in Seniors’ Lives: Volunteer with NHWW Tantramar
If you’re ready to share your time and talents, consider volunteering with seniors in our community. Your support will bring joy and connection to those who may be feeling isolated and lonely.

Build Connections
Volunteering offers a unique opportunity to create meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships with older adults or seniors. Your time and kindness can significantly enhance community members’ quality of life, while providing essential support and companionship.

Flexible Options
There are various ways to volunteer, from one-on-one visits, outings, help with errands, transportation to medical appointments and NHWW activities, snow shoveling, scooping cat litter, etc. This flexibility allows you to choose a commitment and make an impact that fits with your schedule, interests, and gifts. Just an hour of conversation and tea can make a world of difference!

Enriching Lives
Engaging with seniors enriches your life, as well. Sharing stories, learning, playing games, crafting, gardening, or enjoying quiet moments together can lead to personal growth and fulfillment.

You may request a paper copy of NHWW Tantramar’s Volunteer Application Form. Please reach out to Rachelle Gariepy, Coordinator, if you have questions or suggestions. Your creativity in how you’d like to be involved is always welcome.
